Accountant General

Rea Georgiou is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) and holder of a First Class Honours degree in Economics. She has more than 30 years of experience in the public and private sector. She worked in an audit firm in London. She returned to Cyprus in 1985 where she worked in a Public Company in the hotel industry as Financial Manager. She joined the Treasury of the Republic in 1987 serving in various posts. On November 3, 2010 she was appointed Accountant General of the Republic making her the first woman to hold the position, a post that is specified in the constitution, and she is in charge of the Treasury of the Republic of Cyprus.

Rea Georgiou is the President of the Cyprus Public Audit Oversight Authority, the Loan Commissioners, the Provident Fund of the Permanent Government Hourly-paid Employees, the Cyprus Children Fund Committee. She is also the Treasurer of the Independent Social Support Body and member of the Archbishop Makarios III Foundation Cultural Centre. She has served as President of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus for two years (2001-2003). She has also served as member of the Board of Trustees of the Lemithou Mitsis Commercial School (2003-2017).
